Australia recorded a comfortable five-wicket win against India in the first Women’s ODI between the two sides in Brisbane on Thursday.
The Aussie win was set up by the home bowlers, who bundled out India for just 100 in first innings. Australia wrapped up the chase with more than 33 overs left.
The Australian bowling performance was led by pacer Megan Schutt, who recorded her first ODI fifer, as India crumbled after electing to bat first.
Australia’s chase was turbo-charged by a 29-ball 35 from opener Phoebe Litchfield. Her knock included a string of six consecutive fours, across two overs, as the home team hurtled towards the target.
India found some momentum as it struck back through Renuka Thakur, who tallied three wickets.
But, debutant opener Georgia Voll weathered the pressure to guide her side to an easy win with a classy unbeaten 42-ball 46.
