Pakistan’s Babar Azam became the joint-fastest batter to score 6000 runs in ODIs during the tri-series final against New Zealand in Karachi on Friday.
Babar needed 10 runs to equal South Africa’s Hashim Amla’s record (123 innings). The 30-year-old reached the milestone with a four off Jacob Duffy through the covers in the seventh over of the first innings.
However, Babar failed to convert his start and chipped a return catch to Nathan Smith, having scored 34-ball 29 including four fours and a six.
Babar made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in Lahore in 2015. He has scored 34 fifties and 19 hundreds in the 50-over format.
