Indian women’s cricket team has been fined for maintaining slow over-rate in the second ODI of the recent three-match series against Australia.

Harmanpreet Kaur-led team, which suffered a 3-0 clean sweep, had lost the second match by 122 runs in Brisbane. Australia opted to bat first and scored 371 for 8. In reply, India could only manage 249.

While bowling in the first innings, India fell two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.

On-field umpires Claire Polosak and Donovan Koch, third umpire Jacquline Williams and fourth umpire David Taylor levelled the charges. India captain Harmanpreet pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction.
