Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that midfielder Romeo Lavia won’t be available for the Club World Cup semi-final against Fluminense tomorrow.
The Blues have had a fantastic Club World Cup campaign. With a favourable fixture list, the London giants have managed to progress to the last four of the tournament.
Chelsea take on Fluminense on Tuesday and ahead of the encounter, Maresca has confirmed that Lavia won’t be fit to make the matchday squad.
He said in today’s pre-match press conference: “Romeo is training already. Unfortunately, he is not training with us, so he’s not ready for tomorrow.”
The absence of Lavia may not be a huge blow, considering Moises Caicedo is back from suspension. Andrey Santos also had a good game against Palmeiras last time around.
Chelsea are largely favourites to qualify for the final where they could face either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid. The Blues should fancy their chances of going all the way.
