
Pakistan has advanced to the semi-finals of the Asian Team Snooker Championship after defeating compatriots Pakistan team 3-1 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Pakistan One will now face Malaysia in the semi-final.
Three-time world champion Muhammad Asif and teammate Awais Munir — representing Pakistan One — outplayed the duo of former Asian champion Mohammad Sajjad and Shahid Aftab, securing a spot in the last four and assuring themselves of a medal.
Earlier in the group stage, Pakistan One defeated Cambodia and Qatar before sealing a 3-1 victory over Sri Lanka One. Pakistan Two, after winning their opening match against Bahrain and suffering a loss to China, bounced back to beat Sri Lanka Two 3-0 in their final group match.
In the other quarter-final clashes, Hong Kong One blanked Bahrain 3-0, Malaysia edged Hong Kong Two 3-2, and India cruised past Qatar with a 3-0 win. If both Pakistan and India win their respective semi-finals, the stage will be set for a high-stakes final between the arch-rivals.
