Mumbai recorded the highest successful run chase in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy knockouts as it shot down 224 runs against Vidarbha in the quarterfinals in Alur on Wednesday.

Ajinkya Rahane top-scored with 85 runs to help Mumbai advance to the semifinals of the competition.

The previous record in the elimination games belonged to Himachal Pradesh which shot down 200 against Bengal during the 2022 edition.

Mumbai also chased down 230 runs against Andhra in its previous match, the last in the group stage, which is the highest chase across all rounds of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

The Shreyas Iyer-led side will take on Baroda in the semifinal on Friday.
