Mumbai allrounder Simran Shaikh was roped in by Gujarat Giants for a massive Rs. 1.90 crore price tag in the auction for the 2025 edition of the Women’s Premier League in Bengaluru on Sunday.
In a bidding war that ensued between Giants and Delhi Capitals, the Giants eventually prevailed with the winning bid, adding a batter with explosive ability to their mix.
Gujarat Giants’s coach Michael Klinger admitted that Simran, alongside Dottin who returns to the franchise for the 2025 edition, were the two players they wanted to target and got both of them. He revealed that the management was keeping a close eye on the domestic tournaments in India and Simran’s power hitting ability and knack to hit sixes right off the bat coming lower down the order is just what the side is lookin for in the next season.
Simran previously represented the UP Warriorz but had an underwhelming run with the franchise in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2023.
