Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova made a massive jump to return to Top 100 in the latest WTA Rankings released on Monday, which will be used for this year’s draw at the grass Major.
The 25-year-old Czech was ranked 164th in the world prior to last week’s Berlin Open. In a stunning title-winning run at the WTA 500 event, Vondrousova beat World No. 6 Madison Keys (first round), World No. 12 Diana Shnaider (second round) and World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka (semifinal). As a result, she moved up 91 spots to 73rd.
The draw for this year’s Wimbledon will be held on Friday and an year after her first-round exit as the defending champion, unseeded Vondrousova will be keen to make amends.
In top 10, Italy’s Jasmine Paolini moved past China’s Qinwen Zheng into fourth spot while USA’s Emma Navarro and Spain’s Paula Badosa swapped the last two positions.
